Putting In the Reps (Outside the Gym)

Updated: May 12, 2025

A sneak peek from our @fitsisterofficial photo shoot…

and some thoughts on being 45 and trying something new—

People talk a lot about vision and purpose. But we don’t talk enough about the awkward, messy, deeply human moments that go into building something meaningful.

Nat and I decided a long time ago not to wait until things were perfect. We planned and prepped, but at some point, ready or not, you have to show up. You have to put in the reps.

It’s a weird feeling. It’s like being strong and fragile at the same time.

Overcoming fears and building something new is empowering.

Putting yourself out there in what feels like an “unfinished state” feels like one of those bad dreams where you show up to school completely naked.

I love these photos, but I’m proud of us for not waiting for the perfect lighting or the perfect moment to start sharing this brand. Things are starting to feel more sister-power confidence and less naked nightmare—in other words, putting ourselves out there week after week is paying off.

And it reminded me: it’s okay to be proud of something before it’s fully formed.

I’m not old, but I’ve lived long enough to know this: I don’t want to waste my days dreaming up things that can’t claw their way past my inner critic. I don’t want to kill my ideas, and I definitely don’t want to stifle my own creativity because I’m afraid of… what, exactly?

We’ve barely scratched the surface with FitSister. I want to get better. I still critique my work constantly—but I’m proud.

We created this brand to help people navigate the health and fitness world. But on a personal note, if there’s anything else I hope women take away from this, it’s this—

Don’t be afraid to be a beginner.

It’s awful and amazing all at once—but most meaningful things are.

Don’t clean it up. Don’t throw it away. Don’t call it quits.

Keep it. Work on it. Share it.

Talk about why it’s hard—but talk more about why it matters.

That’s what Nat and I are doing—every single week.

Whether you’re here for the health advice, the sisterly banter, or just to watch us build something from nothing—thank you for being here.
